Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!
Eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of New York’s Sun, and the quick response was printed as an unsigned editorial September 21, 1897. The work of veteran newsman Francis Pharcellus Church has since become history’s most reprinted newspaper editorial, appearing in part or whole in dozens of languages in books, movies, and other editorials, and on posters and stamps.
Letters for Santa Mailbox
These days parents face a real struggle convincing children over the age of six-years that there is a Santa Claus. The Blairstown Museum would like to help children hold on to the magic of Christmas for just a little bit longer.
Our “Letters for Santa” program adds to the excitement of Christmas and is ideal for interesting youngsters in letter writing, stamps and penmanship. All letters with a return address will receive a personalized reply from Santa Claus — complete with North Pole Postage and Stamp!
Letters for Santa with a return address will be securely stored. In the future, our Letters for Santa Committee will be charged with reuniting your adult child with their letter.
Isn’t that just magically terrific? We thought so too.
