History on Main
This popular 1-1/2 hour walking tour explores the history of Blairstown’s Historic District and provides a unique glimpse into its storied past. Named after John Insley Blair, who settled here in 1820, Blairstown was formally established in 1839. Today, many of the original homes and commercial storefronts from back then set the stage for a bustling shopping and dining district.
Whether your passion is for architectural details, or the colorful stories behind the buildings, our History on Main tour is the perfect way to explore the Historic District’s rich heritage. Every History on Main tour includes a visit to the Blairstown Museum, an intimate and interpretative environment that offers far more than artifacts under glass. The Museum’s mission is to preserve and promote the rich and colorful history of the region.
We also offer a Grand History on Main Tour that includes a delicious and satisfying lunch at the Blairstown Diner, Blairstown Inn, or Gourmet Gallery. Each restaurant is located within a historic structure. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and apparel.
